12C: Destination Research Collaboration
Develop data sharing and research partnerships that encompass more aspects of the destination experience, including key drivers like attractions and events. With existing knowledge of historic and forecasted hotel room demand, we can better understand projected demand for attraction and event attendance which could help individual attractions plan promotions, programming, and ticketing strategies to minimize the peaks and valleys of visitation. Such a research platform can be extended to other aspects of the hospitality industry while allowing Visit Indy’s key performance indicators to be more inclusive of the destination. Value to the Community
A more comprehensive understanding of how Indy is performing allows us to get the biggest ROI out of quality-of-life and visitor-related investments, maximizing their positive impact on our community and helping mitigate any negative impacts.Value to the Hospitality Industry
In order to manage the region as a destination and maximize its economic impact, it is imperative to have a research-based understanding of how it is performing. Such a system has long existed for hotels, which report daily demand and revenue, however no such platform exists for other key aspects of the destination, including the drivers of demand—our attractions. Pooling market intelligence and analysis helps the overall destination better understand how it is performing while also providing key intelligence to individual partners who likely cannot afford or access on their own.Updates
