2C: Neighborhood Event Toolkit
Indy has perfected the art of hosting large events, particularly in the downtown area. We can package and share this expertise to help smaller, hyper-local events also be successful. In addition to a print or digital guide, this toolkit could also include support, through contacts, an ombudsperson, or periodic gatherings, that help walk event leaders through intimidating issues like permits and insurance. Networking opportunities could also help resident leaders share successes and challenges with one another.
Value to the Community
Neighborhood events help promote civic pride and demonstrate the unique ways neighborhoods contribute to the Indy experience. They promote social capital within neighborhoods that is important in addressing other neighborhood needs, and perhaps most importantly, they're fun!Value to the Hospitality Industry
While smaller neighborhood-scale events are unlikely to be a significant visitor draw, they do provide visitors with an increased menu of authentic, local experiences.Updates
