5C: Neighborhood Identity + Placemaking Assistance

To promote resident pride and celebrate the diversity of neighborhood personalities, develop a program that supports smaller-scale, neighborhood-driven placemaking projects. This program could include packaging professional branding with implementation assistance like graphic design, landscape design, and artistic concepts, as well as grant support for physical implementation.

Value to the Community

Neighborhood-driven placemaking efforts allow each neighborhood to exhibit its pride and express its identity as something unique. Placemaking elements also increase the visual appeal of our streets.

Value to the Hospitality Industry

As more visitors desire authentic local experiences, supporting neighborhood-led efforts to distinguish and enhance themselves helps to portray our authenticity. Banners, public art, gateway elements, and other streetscape enhancements also increases visual appeal of Indy's streets.
