12B: Indy Attraction Pass

Expand on the Indy Attraction Pass piloted during the COVID-19 pandemic to include additional attractions, or develop a series of passes that package attractions and services by geography, timeframe, or theme. Such passes could be expanded to include other partners like transportation, dining, or event tickets and could be packaged with accommodations, providing the ability to sell an all-inclusive experience. A resident version of the pass could also be designed to encourage locals to support attractions at times of low visitation. On the administrative side, utilize pass usage data to understand how residents and visitors are using attractions and services.

Value to the Community

Beyond the obvious benefits of offering locals discounted rates to activate attractions during need times, adding additional passes can help introduce more people to more types of places in Indy. This also helps smaller or more niche attractions have a role in sharing their story with visitors and the broader community, as well as, direct more financial resources to these cultural entrepreneurs.

Value to the Hospitality Industry

A packaged experience pass is a feature of many competitive cities but until the COVID-19 pandemic, struggled to gain traction in Indy because of legitimate concerns about eroding revenues for the limited number of major attractions. Passes can be designed to minimize the peaks and valleys of attendance with features that incorporate dynamic pricing, timed entry, or remaining capacity only ticketing. Together with a resident version of the pass, passes could help spread attendance out to reduce peak times that are expensive to staff and come with a degraded user experience as well as reduce times of low visitation that waste attraction capacity.
