1D: Student Engagement Program
Modeled after the successful CampusPhilly program in Philadelphia, develop a program that encourages students to choose Indy for their studies, to explore Indy while they are here, and to remain in the city upon graduation. This program could offer discounts to attractions, events, and local businesses, connections with transportation providers, connections with new or existing internship and externship programs, volunteering opportunities, and targeted communications. Another aspect of this program can include engagement with alumni organizations to help keep Indy top-of-mind with graduates who do leave.
Value to the Community
Attracting students to study in Indy, helping them fall in love with the city, and keeping them when they graduate increases demand for Indy neighborhoods and supports local businesses. It also provides a steady pipeline of talent to keep our local economy healthy, innovative, and growing.Value to the Hospitality Industry
Talent attraction and retention is a critical issue for growing Central Indiana's companies and its economy. This economic development aspect is important in addressing our relative low levels of business travel and growing air service. Students coming to study in Indy also provides opportunities to build the Indy brand with their hometown friends and families.Updates
