15C: Digital Meeting Infrastructure
Based on leading-edge best practices, augment indoor and outdoor gathering spaces downtown with world-class technology and production capacity and expertise to support such events. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the rapid experimentation and adoption of remote meeting technologies. While research reinforces the value of face-to-face interaction and we strongly believe in the future of in-person convenings, we also embrace the value of hybrid events that combine both in-person and virtual engagement. Such technologies extend the reach of the event, but can also serve to stimulate demand for future in-person events, helping increase in-person attendance long-term.
Value to the Community
Keeping Indy's investment in the convention business and sustaining the jobs and economic activity derived from it requires that we remain competitive. Investments in such hybrid meeting technology can reassure groups that Indy can host their event regardless of what the future holds, increasing the resiliency of the resulting economic activity.Value to the Hospitality Industry
Developing a reputation as a convention city with the best equipped and serviced venues maintains a competitive edge, allows customers to be more confident in booking Indy, and opens additional markets that may not have considered Indy for business before. Such investments also align with Indy's growing reputation as a strong place for tech business.Updates
